1.4.1 (i) Nature of functions/services offered

Established in 1982, Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an internationally acclaimed Institution, which offers training program, academic courses and advisory in wildlife research and management. The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity related issues.

The Wildlife Institute of India is a nodal national agency for research and training in the field of wildlife conservation. Its mandate includes generating quality knowledge in wildlife science and complement national efforts in wildlife conservation.

1.4.2 (ii) Norms/standards for functions/service delivery

Norms and Standards for various activities of the Institute are those as laid down by the competent authority, such as, the Governing Body. The Annual Report prepared as per manual for autonomous bodies under the guidance of Governing Body and Finance Committee and its annual meeting.

The Annual Report of the Institute along with Audited Accounts are placed on the table of both the Houses of the Parliament.

WII is an institution of higher learning devoted to wildlife research and teaching. All the Administrative Offices, Labs, Central Facilities, Libraries, Hostels etc. are located on its Campus which facilitate quick communication channels to and from.
