This year marks the 75^th anniversary of our independence and WII-NMCG team is celebrating the occasion by launching a Mobile Exhibition depicting the biodiversity and livelihood of the people living on the banks of river. This mobile exhibition will travel through the banks of River Ganga, Yamuna and Gomti throughout the Wildlife Week. The exhibition aims to create awareness amongst school children and the community about the importance of clean water, an environment free of pollution and the river biodiversity.

DAY 1 – BIJNOR, UTTAR PRADESH

The Mobile Exhibition got flagged off in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh on 1^st October, 2021. The occasion was graced by DM Bijnor, DFO Muzaffarnagar, DFO Bijnor, Ganga Task Force, Eco Task Force and other Forest Officials apart from our own Wildlife Institute of India scientists Dr Bitapi Sinha, Dr S.A. Hussain and Dr Ruchi Badola and other project personnel.

DAY – 2 DELHI

With the onset of Wildlife Week and on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the team is with the underprivileged children on the banks of river Yamuna. Educational and fun activities were conducted with them. Importance of river, wildlife, threats and how they can contribute in their own way to help in conserving them was discussed.

DAY – 3 KANPUR

On day 3, our team has reached Kanpur and organised a workshop with the students and teachers of Saraswati Gyan Mandir, Kanpur and the Forest Department Staff. Educational and hands-on activities with more than 100 participants was done.

The occasion was graced by DFO Kanpur, Mr Arvind Kumar Yadav.

DAY – 4 KANPUR ZOOLOGICAL PARK

On day four of Wildlife Week, painting competition was organised and selfie stand was posted outside “Anubhuti”, our interpretation centre inside Kanpur Zoological Park. The mobile exhibition was also parked with the selfie point for the visitors to have a look and the importance of Wildlife Week was also described to them.

DAY – 5 ZAFRABAD, JAUNPUR

On fifth day, the team has reached on the banks of River Gomti in Zafrabad, Uttar Pradesh and organised a workshop with more than 270 students and teachers of Hargovind Inter College, Zafrabad. The team has earlier made “Jalmala Samwad” in the school giving students access to information about our National River, Wildlife and harmful effects of plastic. Hands-on activities, educational talk and resource material was provided to the students.

DAY – 6 DHAKA, VARANASI

Today the team organised a workshop with community of village Dhaka, Varanasi. Around 130 women, children, priests and fishermen all attended the interactive session with fun activities.

DAY – 7 JAUNPUR AND RAJBARI, VARANASI

To coclude this year’s Wildlife Week, the team participated in the Wildlife Week concluding ceremony at the Zoo in Sarnath organised by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department. Apart from this, the team organised school workshops in Jaunpur and Rajbari village in Varanasi. Interactive activities and information about the surrounding biodiversity of the River Ganga and Gomti were also provided to more than 500 students
