to engage Research Associate

 

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 01–Research Associate (Indian National only) through a walk-in-interview to be conducted on Monday, 1st September 2014. The details of the available position along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:

Subject Title, details of position and duration

Conserving Great Indian Bustard occupied landscapes through scientific understanding and participatory planning.

 (01 – Research Associate)

Duration: Three years.

Essential Qualification

Candidate must possess PhD in Ecology / Forestry / Wildlife Science from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification

Candidate with at least 5 years' of research experience after Post Graduation will be preferred. Following are also desirable:

  • Work experience in grassland ecology and conservation;
  • Expertise on wildlife population and habitat assessment techniques,
  • Skilled in quantitative analysis of ecological data;
  • Good publication track record.

Description of Work

  1. To conduct population monitoring at landscape scale.
  2. Satellite telemetry on Great Indian Bustard (GIB) for habitat use and movement patterns.
  3. Work with State and National Government for policy and management of GIB habitats.
  4. Data analysis, report preparation and scientific publication.

 

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Candidate(s) possessing Ph.D. in the discipline as advertised shall only be eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview.

  2. Age of the applicant should be below 40 years of age as on Monday, 1st September 2014 and the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

  3. The selected candidate shall be engaged for an initial period of one year as Research Associate (RA-I). However, the same can be extended by the Institute, depending upon the satisfactory performance of the selected RA and exigencies of work at its sole discretion.

  4. The fellowship amount for the Research Associate (RA-I) will be ` 22,000/- consolidated per month.

  5. The selection will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Monday, 1st September 2014 at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehra Dun and the registration for the advertised position will be done from 09:00 to 10:00hrs on Monday, 1st September 2014 at WII. Applications of late entrants will not be entertained for the registration.

  6. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

  7. Candidate(s) should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra-curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.

  8. The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
