Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, which has a wonderful collection of about 1,000 animal. Go to the mammals, reptiles or birds sections and get a wealth of info.

National Zoo in Washington boasts of precise information about the place. Keep track of new births and download the audio tracks of the lectures.

Zoological Society of San Diego' collection of fauna.

A comprehensive list of online zoos and links to conservation groups and webcams sites.

The Woodland Park Zoo, Washington, which has about 1,000 animals of 300 species.

The Hanover Zoo in Germany. The links to the Expo 2000 sections take you to pithy profiles of the animals in the Jungle Palace (India), Sambesi (Africa), Gorilla Mountain and Meyer's Palace (Lower Saxony).

Denver Zoo There are about 3,500 animals in this 60 acre park in Colorado. It's part of the Species Survival Plan of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. These plans looks at wildlife conservation efforts, breeding programmes and reintroducing  the successfully-bred animals into the wild.

Chester Zoo, UK. Designated as the Zoo for the Year for 1999 by the Good Guide to Britain.

The Cincinnati Zoo is the second-oldest zoo in the United States, having opened in September 1875, get a glimpse of Passenger Pigeon Memorial and the Elephant House sections.
