There has been a tremendous increase in field based research in wildlife conservation and management in the recent past. In order to disseminate scientific information to field managers, wildlife biologists, teachers and voluntary organisations, the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) brings out technical reports and manuals, workshop proceedings, and publishes research reports, research papers, popular articles and other documents.

Over the years WII has published 16 technical manuals, more that 120 technical & research Reports, 256 workshop proceedings, more than 500 research papers, and more than 96 popular articles.

The research scholars working in various research projects in the Institute are encouraged to enroll for M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree, and till today 52 Ph.D. and 1 M.Phil. dissertation have been submitted by them. It must be emphasized that wildlife science is essentially a field subject and personnel can't be adequately trained without a major component of field studies. Hence in addition to a large amount of field work associated with the course work of our master's programme, A six month field research project is included in the 2 years programme. So far, 76 M.Sc. Dissertations  have been submitted by our M.Sc. Students.

The institute also regularly publishes a quarterly newsletter containing information on various activities of this Institute. This publication acts as a medium for interaction among participants of all the regular courses and short courses, workshops and seminars organised by the Institute. The WII newsletter allows field managers to present their views as well as to report on the latest development in the field. Presently some thousand copies of newsletter are being sent out to Foresters,PA Managers, Zoo Managers, Teachers, Lawyers, Voluntary Organisations and interested individuals, free of charge.

The Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre on "Wildlife and Protected Areas" at WII also publishes a bi-annual bulletin on different conservation themes for dissemination of scientific information to a large number of users.
