There are 1,228 species of
birds found in India including 82 species listed as threatened in the IUCN Red
List of Threatened Animals (IUCN 2006). This database provides information on
the distribution of birds in various protected areas of the country. Large
number of information on avifaunal distribution in various protected areas have
been collected and documented in the form checklists.
