WII-ENVIS Publications

Considering the vital importance of Environmental Information, the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, in December 1982, established an Environmental Information System (ENVIS). The focus of ENVIS is to disseminate environmental information to decision makers, policy planners, natural resource managers, scientists, researchers, civil society organizations and other users.

ENVIS is a decentralized system with a network of subject oriented centres ensuring integration of national efforts in environmental information collection, collation, retrieval and dissemination to all concerned.

The ENVIS Centre at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun was established in 1997 in the subject area "Wildlife and Protected Areas". The WII-ENVIS Centre has till date brought out the following 8 thematic bulletins and 2 are in process of being published shortly
