to engage Project Biologists

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 04 Project Biologists (Indian national only) through a walk-in-interview on Monday, 29th September 2014. The details of the available positions along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:

Project Title, details of position and duration

Determination of conservation values of mangroves of Gujarat.

(04 –Project Biologists)

Duration: Six Months

Essential Qualification

Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Sciences/Forestry/Forest Management/Environmental Sciences/Life Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification

  • Prior research and/or field experience in wildlife surveys.

  • Working knowledge on basic field methods (Line transects, Point counts, vegetation quantification) is desired.

  • Interest in scientific work, high motivation, interest to work in interdisciplinary team.

  • Must possess good articulation and written communication skills in English.

Description of Work

The works involves identifying mangrove patches and assess their conservation values along the coast of Gujarat

 

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Candidate(s) possessing Master’s Degree along with final year mark-sheet will be eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview. Candidates appearing in the final year of Masters’ Degree Program will not be eligible to apply for the advertised positions.

Rs. 16,000/- consolidated per month.

3. Selected candidate(s) will be engaged initially for a period of six months. Subsequently his/her tenure may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Institute and satisfactory performance of the candidate.

4. Selected candidates are expected to join the project at the earliest.

5. The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Monday, 29th September 2014 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registrations of the candidates for the advertised positions will be done from 09:00 to 10:00hrs on 29th September 2014 at WII. Filled-in applications of late entrants after the stipulated time as mentioned above for the registration will not be accepted, in any case.

6. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

7. Candidate(s) should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials   of educational qualifications, research experience, extra-curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration for document verification. Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be rejected.

8. The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.

10. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
