Requirement of a Project Consultant for “Development and maintenance of studbooks for selected endangered species in Indian zoos”
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage one project consultant (Indian National only) on contractual basis initially for a period of one year. Applications are invited for the same and only short listed candidates will be called for the interview, likely to be held in August 2013. Essential Qualification |
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. Degree in Zoology/Wildlife Science/ Life Science from a recognized University. |
Desirable Qualification |
Research experience in field of animal ecology, behavioural sciences, population management and understanding of management of captive animals and ex-situ conservation. |
Project Description |
The project aims to develop population management plans for identified species in captivity in Indian zoos and conservation breeding centres using pedigree information. |
Tasks Description |

GENERAL
1. The tenure of the selected candidate (Project Consultant) will be initially for a period of one year, which can be extended further on the basis of requirement of the project.
2. Candidate for the advertised position of Project Consultant should not be more than 50 years of age. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped applicants.
3. Selected candidate (Project Consultant) will be paid a consolidated sum of ` 40,000.00 (all inclusive) and taxes as applicable will be deducted at source.
4. The selection of the candidate will be based on interview likely to be held in August 2013 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. All original documents should be produced at the time of interview.
5. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
6. Applications should be sent/submitted on or before Monday, 22nd July 2013, in prescribed format with attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth, caste etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations.
7. Candidates working in other Organizations/Universities should send their applications through proper channel. However, candidates are advised to ensure timely receipt of application at the Institute by sending an advance copy. In such cases the candidates will have to produce `No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.
8. Applications received after due date/without enclosures/incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection.
9. Completed application should be sent by post to the Research Coordinator, Wildlife Institute of India, P.O. Box # 18, Chandrabani, Dehradun 248 001 (Uttarakhand) on or before 22nd July 2013 in an envelope super-scribed by ‘Application for the post of Project Consultant–Advt. No. WII/RES/RSCHRS-SELCTION’2013/A.3.14.

11. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information or any other reason.
